Welcome to the Mossburn Pirates Rugby Club website
The Mossburn club has a proud history dating back to 1920 and is a strong contender for the Compton Shield (Supremacy of Northern rugby) each year; wining this 6 times since 1963. In 1989 it joined forces with Country Pirates to form Mossburn Pirates and has played in the Southland wide competition. It has contributed a number of players to the local provincial side - The Southland Stags team which currently hold the Ranfurly Shield – The Pride of New Zealand Rugby.
The club has a senior side called the “Mossburn Stags” competing in the Southland wide competition and a Senior C. It also three junior teams down to the 5 year old Rippa side.
The home ground is the Mossburn Domain, located in the heart of Mossburn. Mossburn is surrounded by magnificent landscapes, three world class trout fishing rivers and is ideally located on the main highway from Queenstown to Fiordland National Park - Home to many excellent tramping tracks, world renown hunting locations and summer water sport lakes. It is a small township with a full range of amenities and primarily services the nearby farming area.
